In pursuit of happiness

Varaschin - Outdoor Therapy blog - In pursuit of happiness

Have you ever heard about “Lagom”?

It is a word of Swedish origin that, in fact, cannot be translated in our language.
It is a philosophy based on the concept of ‘not too much, not too little, just enough’ and, specifically, in living a life without excess.

To simplify, we could say that “Lagom” is a way of seeing the world, focusing on mindfulness, the search for balance and, above all, well-being – considered a top priority.

This philosophy can be perfectly applied to everyday life, becoming a true indoor and outdoor furnishing style. What matters most is to keep in mind its essential principles: the elimination of the unnecessary, the choice of good quality furniture, neutral tones, sustainability and recycling.

At Varaschin, we are extremely convinced that living in harmony with nature and the environment that surrounds us is a real panacea for soul and mind. Hence, the choice of our tagline, which by no coincidence is ‘Outdoor Therapy’, meaning the search for harmony, balance, shapes, colours, a continuity between indoor and outdoor environments.

All of this, we believe, matches this very philosophy.

SET AN EXTRA PLACE AT THE TABLE

Let us start with the basics: the perfect balance.

What does it mean? Furnishing our garden by seeking harmony, balancing the furniture to create a functional space that is also good for us. All of this, combined with the elimination of the unnecessary.

How many times in our lives have we faced the choice of whether or not to keep an object, decided not to get rid of it but being unable to find its proper place? We already know the answer, so we raise a further question: shouldn’t we give it a new life?

If we were to think of a functional piece of furniture for our Lagom garden, with no doubt this would be a nice table.

The reason why is very simple: what can be more practical and convivial than a table?

EMPHASIS ON SOFT COLOURS, WITH AN EYE FOR MATERIALS

Watchword: sustainability.
The Lagom style focuses on respect for the environment, for people and for what surrounds us, with an eye for the materials used to make furniture.

For this very reason, it is important to take care of this aspect down to the finest detail, following the principles of sustainability.

Emphasis on durable furnishing products made of wood, steel or stone: these materials will last longer and, most importantly, can be recycled.

What about the colours? Well, shades should inspire peace and tranquillity.
The choice should therefore be based on neutral colours such as white, grey or even beige, declined in cooler or warmer shades, according to taste.

We decided to combine the table with the Emma armchair with its contemporary lines and style.

FREEDOM

One of the goals of the Lagom style is to make larger and brighter spaces.

In a place that is naturally bright, things get easier for us, but we always have to take some small details into account.

We use furniture with clean lines and favour a few decorative objects, preferably inspired by nature.

A beautiful flowerpot, such as the one from the Emma collection, placed near the table can make a real difference in terms of natural elegance.

Still not convinced? Seeing is believing!
